He is the foremost independent experimental filmmaker to have emerged from Thailand.

Tropical Malady, won a jury prize at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival,
Blissfully Yours, won the top prize in the Un Certain Regard program at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival,
Syndromes and a Century, premiered at the 63rd Venice Film Festival / the first Thai film to be entered.

1970年　タイ・バンコク生まれ。
タイで建築を学んだ後、アメリカで映像制作を学ぶ。
1990年代の初めからフィルムやビデオを使い映像表現を始めた。
彼の映像制作はこれまでのタイの映像制作のシステムに属さず、
タイのテレビやラジオの番組、マンガ、古い映画などから要素を用い、
また周辺国の小さな街の情景からもインスピレーションを受け、作品に活かしている。
プロの役者ではない出演者を用いたり、
ドキュメンタリーとフィクションの間を行き来するような即興性の強い映像を作り出す。
2000年に制作した「真昼の不思議な物体」が、
山形ドキュメンタリー映画祭でインターナショナル・コンペティション優秀賞を受賞するなど、
多くの国際映画祭で評価された。
その後2002年には『ブリスフリー･ユア-ズ』が
カンヌ映画祭である視点部門グランプリを獲得、世界的に注目を集めた。
